Sullivan County Court Docket Searches
Start free with MyCase, Indiana's public search for case data and public documents. Pick the Case tab when a case number, citation number, or cross-reference number is in hand. Enter one identifier at a time. Name search begins with a last name, then narrows by first or middle name, date of birth, or business name. Attorneys can be found by name or bar number.
Keep a Sullivan County court docket search tight. Select Sullivan County in the Court control. Apply the Criminal & Citation, Civil, Family, or Probate limit where it fits. A common surname gets smaller once status and file-date filters are applied. MyCase caps results at 1,000 and may show a captcha. A careful query beats a broad one.
- Open MyCase and choose Case, Name, or Attorney.
- Select Sullivan County and the closest case category.
- Add status or filing dates if the result set is broad.
- Open a result and verify its court code and case type.
- Read the CCS, then ask the Clerk for an official copy.
MyCase Fields for Sullivan Dockets
The official MyCase search screen keeps identifiers and names on separate tabs. Citations go under Case. Parties go under Name. Sounds-like matching widens a name query, though it may pull in similar names too.
| Search | Main fields | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Case | Case, citation, or cross-reference number | One exact identifier |
| Name | Last, first, middle, birth date, business | Party or business lookup |
| Attorney | Name or bar number | Counsel's case list |
| Advanced | Status and file dates | Narrow a broad result |
The county entry point also appears on the Indiana Sullivan court page.

This blank official screen helps plan a search without exposing any party's record.
Sullivan Court Dockets: What They Show
The Chronological Case Summary is the event index of a Sullivan County case. Its header carries the case number, court, type, filing date, status, and related references. Parties, attorneys, charges, bonds, CCS events, and financial information may appear elsewhere in the record. A document icon shows up only when a public document is available. No icon does not mean nothing was filed.
Treat each CCS line as one event, nothing more. A hearing setting is not a judgment. A continuance moves a date but never dismisses the case. A charge is an accusation; a disposition records what actually happened. MyCase itself warns it is not the official court record, so get a certified disposition, order, or judgment from the Sullivan County Clerk.
| Case Number | County, court, year, case type, and sequence, such as 77D01-2026-IF-000123. |
|---|---|
| Court and Type | The Circuit or Superior code and Rule 8 case family. |
| Parties | Public party and attorney data, subject to redaction. |
| CCS Events | Filings, notices, settings, orders, service, and outcomes. |
| Financials | Public balances or transactions when available. |
Decode Sullivan County Case Numbers
Sullivan County carries code 77. Current filings use 77C01 for Sullivan Circuit Court and 77D01 for Sullivan Superior Court. After the court code comes the filing year. Then come a two-letter case type and the sequence number. Old 77E01 records trace to the abolished Sullivan County Court and serve as archival context.
- IF
- Infraction, assigned to Superior Court.
- CM
- Criminal misdemeanor, also assigned to Superior.
- F1 through F6
- Current felony levels shared under the allocation plan.
- SC
- Small claims in Superior Court.
- GU and ES
- Guardianship and estate matters in Circuit.
A case number tells you which Sullivan County court holds the docket and what family of cases it belongs to. That clue helps when a name search returns several records.
Sullivan County Court Docket Courts
One elected Sullivan County Clerk's Office backs both current trial courts. Superior alone receives traffic infractions, misdemeanors, and small claims. Circuit alone handles juvenile, paternity, CHINS, probate, guardianship, adoption, and civil commitment matters. Under the local allocation plan, many civil and felony filings can land in either court.
| Court | Selected work | Search route |
|---|---|---|
| Sullivan Circuit, 77C01 | Exclusive probate and juvenile subjects; shared civil and felony work | MyCase or Clerk |
| Sullivan Superior, 77D01 | Traffic, misdemeanors, small claims; shared civil and felony work | MyCase or Clerk |
| Federal court | Federal matters serving Sullivan County | PACER |
The county government directory routes users to the court, Clerk, prosecutor, and related offices.

Other offices may keep records that touch a case, but the true judicial record in Sullivan County lives in the court file and the CCS.
Sullivan Courthouse Docket Hub
The Sullivan courthouse is the county's physical records hub. The county's official home page lists the address as 100 Courthouse Square, with the Clerk's counter in Room 304. Built from 1926 to 1928, the limestone Beaux-Arts building features a rotunda and a stained-glass dome.

The courthouse view helps orient an in-person records visit, and the official Clerk location confirms Room 304.

This is the counter for inspection, copies, certification, balances, and routing questions.
Sullivan County Court Date Lookups
Future hearings show up as CCS events. Read the event type, date, time, court, and location together, since a new order can change an older setting. Any date tied to travel, a deadline, or a required appearance should be confirmed with the latest CCS and the court or Clerk.
Indiana also offers Trial Court Calendars, but participation is voluntary. Sullivan County does not appear on the live county list, so CourtCal cannot serve as the county's schedule source. Even for participating courts, the calendar window runs only seven days back and four weeks ahead. The state court landing page links Sullivan users to current tools.

The page connects MyCase, local rules, e-filing, and statistics.
Current check: read the newest CCS setting, then confirm a critical Sullivan County court date directly.
Sullivan Dockets Beyond MyCase
A missing result does not prove a record is missing. Check spelling, drop optional filters, use the exact identifier, and search open and closed cases alike. Some older files carry historical conversion limits. Sealed or confidential matters may not appear publicly at all, and the Clerk can check the official index and state the proper access process.
Federal cases sit in a separate branch entirely. Sullivan County falls under the Terre Haute division of the Southern District of Indiana, where dockets run on PACER and CM/ECF. The Terre Haute location page confirms the division.

This federal search does not mirror Sullivan Circuit or Superior records.
Sullivan Court Docket Access Rules
Indiana Access Rule 4 starts from general access to court records. Rule 5 identifies confidential, excluded, sealed, or redacted matter. Rule 6 lays out the process for extraordinary court-ordered exclusion. These rules govern judicial records. Indiana's Access to Public Records Act covers many agency records instead.
Key rules:
Rule 4 states the general access standard.
Rule 5 identifies protected information.
Rule 6 governs extraordinary exclusion.
IC 5-14-3 covers many public-agency records.
A public CCS can leave out protected filings and identifiers. A blank result means nothing by itself. Ask the Clerk about the procedure instead of guessing.
The Court Records Rules hub posts the current rules governing what the courts release.

Check the official rules before making an access request.
Sullivan County Docket Technology
Sullivan County moved its cases onto Indiana's Odyssey system in 2019. Odyssey runs the CCS and the statewide e-filing workflow. For the public, that means MyCase. Filing and searching are two different jobs. A lawyer files through the statewide portal. Anyone reading the case checks the event and any released documents in MyCase. Treat the filing portal as a tool for filers. It is not a second public docket database.
Conversion history explains a thin Sullivan County docket. Indiana's own Odyssey help material warns that converted events can vary in depth. Some older material sits in an archived system or a paper file. That can hold true even when the case shows online. Does a date range predate conversion? Does a CCS jump between events? Does a filing you know about have no public image? Ask the Clerk to check the official record.
The county Document Center is a different animal. It searches titles, departments, categories, years, and dates across county publications. There are no party, case-number, or citation fields. So it cannot work as a docket index. Filters may list Circuit Court or Superior Court as departments. That label does not make a board document a CCS entry. Save it for county forms, notices, and administrative material. The Sullivan County Clerk page links court services from the county site.

It joins online tools with the office that maintains original records.
Sullivan Clerk and Docket Records
Tonya Bedwell, the Sullivan County Clerk, is the local contact for filings and case records. Her office handles CCS records, filed pleadings, and orders received from the courts. Judgments, costs, bonds, payments, and copies run through the office too. Court reporters keep transcripts under the local rule, not the Clerk. A judge decides a matter and signs the order. The Clerk then receives and preserves the entry. Knowing who does what matters. It gets a request to the person who can actually act on it.
Four routes work: search MyCase, visit Room 304, call, or mail a narrow request. Name the court and the case number if known. Add the document or date range you want, your contact details, and whether you need certification. No case number? Give an exact party name, an approximate filing year, and the record type. Skip birth dates and Social Security numbers. The county's Court Document Requests and fee pages post no usable instructions. They also post no copy-price table. Ask the office directly for current charges.
Call before requesting a historic file, sealed material, a balance, or a certified copy. The county and state directories list different fax numbers. The Clerk publishes no dedicated public email. Confirm a safe fax, email, or mail route with the main office first. And do not count on a fax to meet a court filing deadline.

Sullivan Docket Copies and Transcripts
A download from MyCase is not a certified copy. The Clerk issues official case-file copies and certification. The county posts no usable court-copy fee table, so confirm the current charges with the office. The Pay Clerk link leads to PayGov. The county page does not explain which payment types it accepts.
Court reporters own transcripts. Local rule LR77-AR15-1 sets $4.75 per page for standard private and county-indigent service. State-indigent service runs $4.74. Expedited work can reach $8 per page. Preparation within three working days adds $3 more per page. A copy runs one-half of the original transcript rate. Confirm the current rule and your request class before ordering.

Sullivan County Dockets by Volume
Certified 2024 statistics add local context. Sullivan trial courts logged 2,822 new filings and 3,104 dispositions. Superior's traffic, misdemeanor, and small-claims work shapes its docket, while probate and juvenile cases give Circuit a different mix.
The numbers come from certified 2024 data, and they say nothing about the pace of one case.
City-by-City Sullivan Court Dockets
None of these five communities has its own court in the current Indiana directory. A town name tells you where a case started. But Circuit or Superior holds it. City hall keeps ordinances and meeting records. The County Clerk keeps the CCS, orders, and certified copies.
The 2025 estimates rank these five places as Sullivan County's largest incorporated communities.

Map and Directions to the Sullivan County Courthouse
Sullivan County's Circuit and Superior Courts, along with the Clerk's Office, are all in the Sullivan County Courthouse on the downtown square. The Beaux-Arts building, begun in 1926 and completed in 1928, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has a three-floor rotunda with an Indiana limestone and marble interior. The Clerk's counter is Room 304; Circuit Court is Room 306; Superior Court is Room 301. A Sullivan local rule directs certain warrantless felony arrests to Superior Court on the first floor and misdemeanor defendants to a second-floor Magistrate's Court unless otherwise designated.

The courthouse is the definitive in-person location for viewing public court records during regular hours; ask the counter for a case number, court, document type, date range, or certified copy. No parking map, security-screening policy, or accessibility details have been published for the building, so calling the Clerk at (812) 268-4657 ahead of a visit is the best way to confirm current access.
