Traffic Case Records in Sullivan County
Traffic infractions in Sullivan County belong to Sullivan Superior Court under the county allocation plan. The same court takes all misdemeanors plus the motor-vehicle felonies the plan assigns it. The current Indiana Court Directory lists no separate Sullivan city or town court. A ticket may start with city, county, or state police, yet the agency that wrote it never holds the filed court case.
Search Sullivan County in MyCase and read the court field on the result. Rule 8 traffic codes you will see include IF for an infraction, OV for a local ordinance, and OE for an exempted ordinance. The Sullivan County Clerk keeps the CCS and case file for Superior Court. Indiana ePay handles search and payment, but it is not the full CCS.
Sullivan Traffic Ticket ePay Fields
Indiana ePay Public Access gives you three ways to pull up a ticket. Use details straight off your own citation, and keep every leading zero in a UTT number. One caution from the portal itself: some Indiana tickets never appear online, and some that do cannot be paid there.
| Search Mode | Required Fields | Format Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ticket (UTT) # | UTT number | Examples J0000000 and 000012305489; retain leading zeroes |
| Driver's License # | License number | Required in this portal mode |
| Name & Date of Birth | First, Last, DOB | Middle optional; DOB uses MM/DD/YYYY |
The official ePay screen displays these lookup modes and its availability warning.

A matching result may list the court, the police agency, the case number, the offenses, the balance, a copy option, and payment status. Check every one of those fields against the CCS.
Sullivan County Traffic Ticket Lookups
Keep the UTT, the issuing agency, the court name, and the ticket date in one place. A portal-only lookup can miss things. New citations may not be posted yet, and some cases simply cannot be paid online.
- Read the paper ticket and identify the UTT and the court to which it directs a response.
- Search Indiana ePay by UTT first. Preserve leading zeroes and do not alter the printed identifier.
- If necessary, use ePay's alternate name and date-of-birth mode or the license-number mode for your own ticket.
- If no result appears, search MyCase by Citation Number or Case Number with Court set to Sullivan County.
- Call Tonya Bedwell's Sullivan County Clerk's Office at (812) 268-4657, or visit Room 304 at 100 Courthouse Square, for a missing record, official balance, copy, or date check.
- Follow the current instructions of the court named on the ticket for any in-person or mail response.
Indiana State Police does not take traffic-ticket payments. Its own guidance sends payment to the county court the ticket points to. Note that the Sullivan Clerk PayGov link and the statewide ePay are separate services, so treat them as different doors rather than the same one.
Sullivan Electronic Citation Trail
Indiana's Electronic Citation and Warning System backs the state's Uniform Traffic Ticket. An electronic ticket can pass into court technology. That does not promise a public copy or an online payment option, though. The filed Sullivan County traffic record still carries the court events that matter. The CCS does too. The official electronic citation page describes the statewide system.

The technology shapes the ticket format, yet the court and Clerk still hold the judicial case record.
Sullivan Traffic Cases Use Superior
Court routing in Sullivan County is more direct than a ticket's police agency might hint. An infraction filed here goes to Sullivan Superior Court. That holds whether a city officer or a state trooper wrote the citation. Misdemeanors route to Superior too. So do the felony motor-vehicle offenses listed at IC 9-30-5-3, 4, and 5.
Use the Sullivan County filter in MyCase and read the court code and case type. Do not hunt for a city-court selector, since the current directory has none. Do the paper ticket and the portal result seem to point at different courts? Then call the Clerk before you respond or pay.
Traffic Court Dates in Sullivan County
The paper ticket may give you an appearance or response date. Once the case is filed, MyCase can show hearing events in the CCS. Read the newest line first. Confirm any urgent date with the Clerk. A later order can continue or cancel a hearing.
| Citation Number | The UTT, such as J0000000, or the linked Odyssey case number. |
|---|---|
| Court | Sullivan Superior Court for a county traffic infraction. |
| Date and Time | The appearance or hearing setting recorded on the ticket or CCS. |
| Hearing Reason | The purpose, such as an initial setting or contested hearing. |
| Status or Result | A pending, canceled, completed, failure-to-appear, or later case event as actually recorded. |
A canceled hearing is not a dismissed ticket. Look instead for a replacement date, a disposition, or an order. For the fuller date route, see the Sullivan County court schedule.
Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It
Indiana ePay warns about paying online. It can act as an admission of the violation or a nolo contendere plea. It can also produce a court judgment and waive trial rights when the agreement applies. Want to fight the citation? Follow the named court's current plea and appearance instructions instead. Avoid any action that carries those terms.
| Point | Paying | Contesting |
|---|---|---|
| Immediate act | Use an eligible channel only after reading the admission and waiver statement | Follow the court's response instructions and request the proper hearing route |
| Record effect | Payment can result in a judgment and disposition | The case remains active while the court sets or resolves the contested matter |
| Where | ePay if eligible, or the court's confirmed counter or mail channel | Sullivan Superior Court under its current procedures |
| Best confirmation | Clerk for balance, eligibility, and posting | Clerk or counsel for filing and setting status |
Do not miss a deadline. The CCS can record failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay events, and court-to-BMV notice may follow the governing process.
Sullivan local rule LR77-CR00-2 provides a $25 late fee after a required payment is not made by the due point or schedule, unless suspended for good cause.
Contact the Clerk promptly for the current case status and amount rather than relying on an old portal result.
Sullivan Ticket Payment Custodian
The law-enforcement agency on a ticket tells you who issued it, not who gets paid. Indiana State Police says plainly that it does not receive traffic-ticket payments. Money goes to the county court where the ticket was issued. Follow the directions printed on the citation. The State Police traffic-ticket guidance states that handoff.

Sullivan Ticket Payment Custodian: The Sullivan County Clerk and Sullivan Superior Court handle every filed Sullivan traffic ticket.
Sullivan Infraction Deferral Terms
Sullivan County drivers with a clean or nearly clean driving record may qualify for a three-month infraction-deferral program run by the Sullivan County Prosecutor. Admission is discretionary. The Prosecutor weighs the infraction and the driving record, and no court outcome is promised. A CCS entry by itself proves nothing about enrollment.
The costs are concrete. Every participant pays a $170 program fee on top of other costs. Conditions may include restitution or getting a valid license. CDL holders are ineligible. Fail the terms and the ticket can be refiled. Anyone who qualifies can pick up a form in person or have it sent by mail or email through the official program contact. The Sullivan County Infraction Deferral page spells out all of these terms.

Eligibility questions belong with the Prosecutor. For anything about a filed CCS, an unpaid balance, or a copy, contact the Clerk.
When a Sullivan Ticket Is Missing
An empty ePay result does not mean the ticket was withdrawn. Check the UTT for leading zeroes first. Then match every character against the paper ticket. Search MyCase by Citation Number. Search again by the Odyssey case number if one is printed on the ticket. Choosing Sullivan County in the portal filters out unrelated results.
Still nothing? Call the court named on the ticket and the Sullivan County Clerk. Have the UTT, the issuing agency, the ticket date, and safe contact details ready. Ask three things: has the ticket been filed? Does a response date still apply? Which channel does the court accept? If the paper ticket states a deadline, treat it as real and act. A web result may never appear.
Two Records: Court File and Driver File
One traffic ticket can leave two trails. If the court files the citation, a judicial case record exists. Separately, a state driver file may receive court-reported outcomes through the motor-vehicle process. Different offices hold the two. Know the difference. It keeps you from asking the wrong office for a CCS or a court order.
| Court Traffic Record | Driver File | |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Sullivan County Clerk for the Sullivan Superior case | Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles |
| Shows | Citation, court, CCS events, plea, hearing, judgment, payments, and closure where public | State motor-vehicle entries received and maintained under BMV rules |
| Request route | MyCase, Clerk phone, counter, or confirmed mail request | BMV's own official record channel |
For Sullivan County traffic matters, focus on the court case itself. Copies of an official case file or certified order come from the Clerk, not from a police agency or the BMV.
Traffic Record Copy Fees
The county fee-schedule page posts no usable court-copy amount. That leaves one safe move: ask the Clerk the price of an ordinary or certified traffic case record before you pay anything. Indiana ePay adds its own warning. Transaction costs can be attached to an online ticket copy or payment, so the portal total you see is not the same as a standing Clerk copy schedule.
| Item | Published Amount | How to Confirm |
|---|---|---|
| MyCase CCS search | Free | Use the official public search |
| ePay ticket copy | Transaction cost may apply | Review the live ePay total before ordering |
| Ordinary Clerk copy | Not located in county source | Call (812) 268-4657 |
| Certified Clerk copy | Not located in county source | Ask for the current certification total |
| Local late fee | $25 under LR77-CR00-2 | Confirm applicability and balance with Clerk |
Statewide ePay, Clerk PayGov, a mailed payment, and a copy request are four different transactions. Name the case and the purpose before any money leaves your hand.
