Sullivan County Criminal Docket Searches
Indiana MyCase is the free remote doorway to Sullivan County criminal court dockets. The Case tab works when you hold a case, citation, or cross-reference number. Enter just one identifier. Got a defendant's last name? Use the Name search instead. Add a first name, middle name, or date of birth to trim a crowded field. Set the Court field to Sullivan County, then pick Criminal & Citation when that category appears. Both Sullivan Circuit Court and Sullivan Superior Court sit on the court list. If a search comes up empty, try the other court. You can also loosen a limit that fits too tightly. Results cap at 1,000, and a captcha may appear, so filtering by county, status, or filing date helps a lot. No account is needed for ordinary public data.

Sullivan Criminal Case Codes
A Sullivan County case number tells you a lot at a glance. Under Administrative Rule 8, the number breaks into four parts. Each part carries meaning. The first block names the court. 77C01 stands for Sullivan Circuit. 77D01 stands for Sullivan Superior. Next comes the filing year and month, then a code for the case type. The final block is a six-digit sequence unique to the case. Consider a docket numbered 77C01-2410-F6-000571. It points to a Sullivan Circuit filing. The date is October 2024. The F6 marks a Level 6 felony.
The full text of the rule holds the controlling list of every code.

That rule explains why the court prefix and case-type group beat guessing from an offense description. The codes, not the charge wording, tell you exactly where a Sullivan County case lives.
- F1 through F6
- Current level-felony classifications.
- CM
- A misdemeanor case.
- MC
- A miscellaneous criminal matter.
- MR
- A murder case.
- PC
- A post-conviction case.
- CF or FA through FD
- Legacy felony codes that may appear in older Sullivan County records.
Older records may carry 77E01, the abolished Sullivan County Court. Treat that prefix as history, not a live court choice. Also note that a transfer can swap the first group while the sequence stays put.
Criminal Dockets: What They Show
The MyCase Case Summary opens with the case number, court, type, filing date, status, related references, and any flags. Below it, the Chronological Case Summary lists events in date order. That CCS is Indiana's docket history. A document icon opens a public filing. But no icon does not erase an event or prove no document exists.
| Charges | Count number, offense date, citation, statute, degree, filed classification, and description where public. |
|---|---|
| Bond | Bond number, amount, status, and status date, subject to later court orders. |
| Hearings | Event date, hearing reason, session, judicial officer, result, and cancellation data when entered. |
| Plea and orders | Appearances, motions, pleas, rulings, trial events, and filed orders. |
| Sentence | Term, credit, suspended portion, conditions, and concurrent or consecutive treatment when public. |
| Finances | Fees, credits, payments, and a displayed balance that may not be current. |
Keep charge and disposition fields separate. A filed charge is an allegation, never a conviction. A canceled hearing does not dismiss the case either; the later CCS entry or public order supplies the real result. The official Case Summary template lays out the CCS field structure for Sullivan County criminal dockets.

With that field map, the date-ordered events, charge details, bonds, and financial blocks become easy to tell apart.
Sullivan Criminal Court Assignment
Sullivan's local rules, effective February 28, 2025, split criminal work between the two trial courts. Misdemeanors, traffic infractions, and specified felony traffic offenses belong to Sullivan Superior Court alone. Other felonies are concurrent, so either Sullivan Circuit or Sullivan Superior can hear them. Assignment runs through the Clerk's local case-tracking system at 50:50 random, subject to stated exceptions. Later filings may instead join a person's pending criminal matters. The Clerk and Prosecutor review them first. A judge can also move a case by order. This is why one name search can return more than one Sullivan County criminal court docket. Related files may even share a court. So confirm the court and full case number. Do this before requesting a record or quoting a hearing date.
Key point: A city name does not select a separate criminal court. The current Indiana directory lists no Sullivan County city or town court.
Criminal Case Stages on the Docket
A Sullivan County criminal docket builds as the prosecutor files and the court acts. Early CCS entries often include the charging filing, summons or warrant events, an initial hearing, and bond. Counsel appearances, discovery notices, motions, pretrial settings, plea events, trial settings, orders, and disposition can follow. A sentence may come last. Later financial or compliance entries may trail even that.
Docket flow: Filing › Initial hearing › Pretrial settings › Plea or trial › Disposition › Sentencing
Not every case hits every stage. Remember, a motion is only a request until the court rules on it. A continuance request cannot move a date by itself either. Check the newest CCS entry or call the Clerk before any nearby hearing.
Sullivan Pretrial Diversion Entries
Some misdemeanor cases in Sullivan County can take a pretrial diversion route. The local Prosecutor offers it. Eligibility limits, a program period, and a fee range appear on the program page. Nothing is automatic. The official page is not a promise of dismissal. A person's own case record plus the prosecutor's written terms control the outcome. The Sullivan County pretrial diversion page lays out the local program terms.

Diversion entries need context. In Sullivan County, a CCS event tied to diversion may reflect a filing, an agreement, a compliance step, or a later result. So read it alongside the program terms and the final court disposition rather than on its own. One caveat matters most: seeing the entry does not replace checking the public order and the current case status yourself. Keep this in mind, too. Treatment, supervision, and probation reports can stay restricted even when a basic docket event stays public.
Sullivan County Criminal Docket Courts
Sullivan County runs its criminal cases through two trial courts. Sullivan Circuit Court and Sullivan Superior Court both sit in the Sullivan County courthouse. One elected Clerk's Office handles records for both. The Indiana Court Directory lists no municipal, city, or town court anywhere in the county. That means a criminal referral starting in Sullivan, Shelburn, Farmersburg, Dugger, or Hymera lands in the county trial-court system once it is filed.
MyCase is only a public viewing layer, not the official record. For the complete Sullivan County criminal docket, go to Tonya Bedwell, the Sullivan County Clerk. Her counter staff can route a request to the right court. They can also tell you whether an older case has converted entries and sell plain or certified copies when available. A quick phone call works well, too. Use it when you just need a hearing date or the correct case number confirmed.
Access Rules for Criminal Dockets
Indiana's current Rules on Access to Court Records supply the governing standard for any Sullivan County court docket. The structure is simple. Rule 4 opens court records to the public unless another rule excludes them. Rule 5 then shields whole cases and individual items, including sealed material, expunged matters, medical or mental-health records, substance-use treatment records, privileged filings, and certain pretrial or problem-solving supervision records. Rule 6 covers the rare case where a court orders extraordinary exclusion.
The Rule 5 source captured for Sullivan County criminal court dockets spells out the full list of confidential and excluded records.

This is why a public case header can stay visible while a report, an address, an image, or a filing gets withheld from the same Sullivan County criminal docket. Indiana's public-access publications shown in the final manifest image walk through court access in plain language.

Here is the line that matters. A Sullivan County docket event can be public while the documents behind it stay restricted.
Access baseline: A missing MyCase result may reflect restricted access, older coverage, a converted case, or a search mismatch. The Clerk can identify the proper next step but cannot release material the rules keep confidential.
Indiana's APRA, IC 5-14-3, gives the public a way to inspect records held by state agencies. It still cannot pry open the records the Supreme Court has carved out for courts. When you ask the Sullivan County Clerk by mail or at the counter, name the court and the case number. Also name the event or document, and say whether you need a certified copy. No purpose statement is required for ordinary accessible court records. Note that MyCase exists for one search at a time, not bulk downloads. Always verify dates, charges, and case status. Check them against the current CCS or the Sullivan County Clerk's official record.
Sullivan Criminal Bond Entries
Sullivan County's local rules contain a bond schedule. Treat it as background only. The docket in the specific case is what controls. MyCase can display a bond number, amount, status, and status date. But a later judicial order can change any of those fields. So read the whole run of bond entries in the criminal docket instead of stopping at the first one. A bond entry never tells you the final disposition. That shows up in later hearings, plea or trial events, sentencing, and closure. If the screen conflicts with a recent order or payment, trust the Clerk's official file.
Sullivan Criminal Caseload Context
Certified 2024 trial-court data put 8,484 cases before Sullivan County courts in total. New filings came to 3,271. Dispositions across all case types reached 3,044. Under the published classification tables, Superior Court handled the larger share. That fits its exclusive misdemeanor work plus assigned concurrent cases. None of these totals can predict what happens in any single criminal case.
Cases arrive faster than they close, so the incoming and disposed counts rarely match in any given span.
That spread covers a mix of new filings and older matters moving through the Sullivan County criminal docket, and it says nothing about how long one person's case should take.
